ITIL & Service Management
ITIL is essentially a representation of best practice for IT service management and comprises a series of books which provide guidance on the quality provision of IT related services. It is now a very widely practised discipline.
What Is BS 15000?
Within this arena, BS 15000 is the first standard for service management (earmarked to be renamed ISO 20000 shortly). Its eight sections form the basis for the assessment of a managed IT service and are based heavily upon the ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) framework.
The eight sections of the stanards are as follows: Scope, Normative Reference, Definitions, General, Service Design and Management, Relationship Processes, Resolution Processes and Control Processes.
